In a few days, 2015 will arrive. If you’re celebrating at a swanky event, be sure to be prepared with a dynamite outfit. Men, don’t think you can get away with wearing your work shoes with formal attire. There’s nothing worse than a tuxedo paired with lace-ups completely scuffed from everyday travels on the bus and subway systems of a major metropolis.

Giorgio Armani, now 80 years old, has his name on every type of product from jeans to hotels to swimwear to perfume. He found it important to make this announcement himself at his Milan Fashion Week show when a vast amount of press was present. We all know George Clooney as a very successful actor with two Oscars. It’s known that the two are friends.
What can we learn from this announcement? Is it just another pop culture, fashion blurb that the press will milk day in and day out until we see the photos? Is there something telling about his announcement that we could use for our own brands?
It has been a few years since I have worn a double breasted suit. In the early 1990s, that ‘s the only design of suit that I wore and felt comfortable in. Every suit I owned was a double breasted. For many years now I have been wearing single breasted suits. Periodically, I would come into contact with a “DB “ suit and would try it on and look in the mirror. This would usually occur at a clothing factory or showroom where there were samples available to try. The suit felt comfortable and has a commanding presence about it.
As early as the 1920’s the single breasted suit has been in fashion. Certainly, it has gone through many changes over the years in terms of fit. Early on they were tight fitting, then around 1935 they became loose fitting and in the 1970’s became tight fitting again. It seems at present the trend is back to slimmer fitting, single breasted suits.
There is more than one type of style of single breasted suit, also known as the “SB “ suit. Most of the styles have to do with how many buttons and what style of lapel is designed into the jacket.
When it comes to Apple tech we only get it once every 18 months to two years. When it arrives there is so much hype and anticipation. Whatever Apple introduces the majority wants immediately. There are already people lined up at the Apple flagship on Fifth Avenue and 58th Street in New York City. Today, along with the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple launched the Apple Watch. Not only is it a marvelous piece of innovative technology that took years to design and build, but it’s fashionable or at least it wants to be.
Preparing for upcoming air travel is always hectic. What should be packed? Don't bring too much? Don't bring too little? How many pairs of shoes? Can I fit all my clothing in my carry on? After the luggage is packed the key question still remains, what should I wear on the plane?
Off to work for the big meeting and you run out the door. Suddenly, you find yourself pulling at your shirt's sleeves. You keep trying to pull them down to show more cuff. Maybe it is of no fault of the shirt. The suit sleeves are too long and no matter how you try to keep those suit sleeves off of your knuckles, the shirt does not want to show.
All hangers are not created equal. This especially applies to hangers that are needed for suits. There are many types of hangers made for generic purposes, such as, the wire hanger, but there are hangers that are manufactured for specific purposes, such as suit hangers. Who doesn't remember Faye Dunaway screaming, "No more wire hangers!" in the movie Mommy Dearest. Faye Dunaway played Joan Crawford in the story of Ms. Crawford’s life as told through the eyes of her daughter, Christina Crawford. It remains a legendary Hollywood film.
Over the years of being in the men's clothing business many people have asked me how to fold a suit jacket in the luggage without wrinkles. I would show them a fold taught to me by my grandfather that I have used over and over while traveling. My suits come out of the luggage in great condition even after a long flight. Hang your suit or jacket up when you take it out and wear. No need to call hotel housekeeping for pressing.
All-season suits are just that, suits made from fabrics that you can use in any type of climate or season, whether it be hot, cold, winter or summer. They are available to buy all year long. Since the menswear business is a seasonal business there will be a time when the selection of all season goods is greater. When is that time?
I would follow him as he made his way from the bathroom to his closet each morning. He'd stand and pause. Already in his briefs, he would push the hangers along the metal rod to choose just the right suit for the day. I could almost taste the sound of the metal on metal as I sat on the reclining chair in my parents' bedroom. My pajama bottoms still a bit twisted at the waist from rolling around all night. My socks flopping off my feet at the toes. I knew it was time for the show. To me, his suits were all some version of the same thing, but I knew that to him, to a man, this was a decision to be made. I watched and studied his every nuance about how he'd zip the pants enough to keep them from falling back to his ankles, but open enough to allow him to do the tucking in of his shirt that he did so methodically. Front right side. Left front. Back, back, back. Button. Zip. All tucked neatly in the trousers. Arms up. Arms down. To create a bit of slack so that he could move freely.
I was fascinated by each step of his morning rituals. They were all so seemingly important. He not only had to choose a suit and a shirt and a tie (that would all somehow coordinate), but he got to drive over a bridge to open his clothing stores. That, too, was quite a task only a grownup could get to enjoy. Moreover, once at his store, he and all of his strength had to lift the metal gates. He even had to enter a code on a key pad-- how Maxwell Smart of him!
Buying a belt sounds easy, but there are a few things you need to know. How do manufacturers measure their belts? If you have a 34 inch waist, do you buy a 34 inch belt or a 36? Well that depends on a few factors. If you can't be sure how the belt is measured from the factory in which it was made, it may be difficult to tell what size to choose. In this new video, I explain how companies measure their belts and what to look for when choosing your proper size, measuring and fitting a belt. Lastly, I give direction on how to comfortably and stylishly wear your belt.
In this first blog post, I want you to know that I made this site for you. It pains me to know that men are buying low quality clothing. Even worse, low quality clothing with high prices. Retail store clerks with very little experience in the field of men's fashion and tailoring are giving out expert advice. On the internet there are many bloggers, You Tubers and entrepreneurs that only regard men's fashion as their hobby or have just recently begun to have their own sense of style and call themselves experts.
